Scorpio Motorsport
Scorpio Motorsport is a successful partnership between Jon Pettitt
and Tony Trevor. The team was set up specifically to run a two car
team in the new era Formula Renault 2000 Championship following on
from their success in its inaugral year which culminated in a final
round win of the 2000 Championship.
Formula Renault 2000 is the latest generation of Formula Renault race
cars. All the cars are designed and built to exactly the same technical
specifications by Italian chassis manufacturer Tatuus.
The all-new Formula Renault 2000 also boasts a carbon fibre monocoque
(survival cell) made in the same factory and by the same manufacturer
(ATR) as the Ferrari F1 monocoque. This has marked out Formula Renault
2000 as perhaps the most technically advanced junior single seater
category available below Formula Three.
The engine used is the latest Renault 2 litre 16-valve F4R unit as
found in the Clio RS mated to a sequential six speed racing gearbox.
These units are sealed to prevent any modifications other than those
set out in the Championship regulations. Furthermore, all Formula
Renault 2000 cars must use the nominated Elf lubricants, NGK spark
plugs and Michelin Control tyres.
To help control running costs, Renault UK nominate the number of days
of testing made available and the venue at which these take place
along with an allowance on the number of tyres that can be used
throughout the Championship.
